Sirkeci Train Station is a railway terminal in Istanbul, Turkey, and is often listed as Istanbul train station on maps. The terminal is located at the tip of Istanbul’s historical peninsula, right on the banks of the Golden Horn and northwest of Gülhane Park and Topkapı Palace. Sirkeci Station, which has become one of the symbols of the city, served as the eastern terminal of the famous Orient Express, which operated between Paris and Istanbul between 1883 and 2009.
Sirkeci Station is located on the European side of the Bosphorus and is one of the important centers of Istanbul’s intercity and suburban railway transportation, together with Haydarpaşa Railway Station, the city’s other important railway terminal. On 19 March 2013, the line between Kazlıçeşme and Halkalı was temporarily out of service until it was rehabilitated for the new Marmaray suburban line. However, on October 29, 2013, a new metro station was opened and Marmaray trains started to operate from here. The station was reopened to visitors on 26 February 2024 within the scope of the T6 Sirkeci–Kazlıçeşme Tram Line and U3 Sirkeci–Kazlıçeşme Railway Line.
