The Museum is located near Taksim and it covers the development of warfare and weaponry from Ottoman to Turkey. The museum has halls each of which corresponds to a category such as military weaponry, conquests, and the Turkish War of Independence. There are more than 5000 items on display, which transport you back in time and show how the military evolved. A great place to visit if you are into military history.
Military Museum and Cultural Site Command operates in Istanbul under the Ministry of National Defense. The museum has an important collection from around the world and its historical roots date back to the 15th century. Cebehane, which was first established in the Hagia Irene Church, was reorganized under the name Dar-ül Esliha in 1726. The foundations of modern Turkish museology were laid in 1846 with the efforts of Tophane Müşir Damat Ahmet Fethi Pasha.
